Last day of school

Today was the last day of school for Bennett and Isabel. Bennett was thrilled to be done, but Isabel on the other hand was not happy at all. She loves school and learning new things, but even more she loves her teacher, Mrs. Johnson. She is moving to California this summer and Isabel is so sad that she wont get to see her next year. She was a great teacher, always doing the funnest things to get the kids involved and enjoying school. She gave all of the kids a disc today, that had pictures of the class over the past year. How cool is that!? Isabel has had so much fun looking at these pictures and remembering all of the fun days in first grade. We hope she has a second grade teacher as wonderful as Mrs. Johnson.

Isabel brought home her report card yesterday. When I opened it I was so excited, she had a perfect report card! In first grade they don't give regular grades, A's and B's, that sort of thing. They give numbers and E's for excellent. The highest number is a 4 which means above grade level. Isabel had all E's and 4's. Isabel took one look at her report card and started crying. She said "I thought I did good this year" I was surprised by this and told her she did great. Isabel then replied, "I got all E's, the worst is an F". I tried really hard not to laugh at this, and explained that the E was the best she could get.
