Father/Son Campout

I realized last night that I haven't posted about the father/son camp out that my boys went to over the weekend. It is actually a funny story. It was just an over night camp out, and thank goodness it was. I don't think that Jason could have handled it for much longer. The boy's were so excited to go, and headed out Friday, and when they got there it had started snowing. My little boys all found their friends and took off playing, and Jason set up and was helping the other Dad's with dinner. After about an hour the little boys were freezing and wet from the now three inches of snow on the ground! Jason doesn't think that when you are camping you need to pack extra clothes, so they had nothing to change into. I really thought he had learned his lesson two years ago at the father/son camp out, when Evan fell into the river up to his neck, luckily I had packed a clean set of clothes for them that year and Evan was able to get changed. When he got home he was very happy that I had packed them those clothes, even though he gave me such a hard time for packing them in the first place. But unfortunately, Jason hadn't learned from that experience and the boys were now freezing cold and miserable. Jason took them into the camper and got them all warm and snug in their beds and were asleep by seven thirty! About halfway through the night, Jason woke up to a loud thud, Will had fell out of the bed and now wanted to sleep with his Daddy, so Jason got him all snug in his bed and they both got back to sleep. Well that turned out to be a bad idea, Jason woke up later because he was now sleeping in a puddle of wet, that's right, Will peed the bed! Of course since Jason doesn't think he needs extra clothes for camping, neither one of them had anything to change into, and no clean bedding either. The next morning they quickly packed up and happily came home for some badly need rest! I think he will pack a little better next year!

Hey, they had a nice warm camper, they didn't need no stinking clothes! But then, whats the camper smell like now?

What's the scout motto, again? Be prepared? hee hee. Too funny. Although I think it's only funny for those who weren't directly involved...I got a nice chuckle out of it. :)

That is so funny! Can't wait for Jed to read this post. He hates scouts as we all have heard a million times - so this experience would probably end his campout trips. I would bet Jason has learned his lesson now about packing extra!
